Analysis of Technology and Economy of Graphite Purification by Different Methods

Technology and economy of graphite purification are introduced today. Graphite is a kind of strategic resource, which plays an important role in the development of national economy and modernization. Graphite reserves are huge in China. It is widely used in industry. And also it is an indispensable non-metallic material. Graphite concentrate is the raw material.

 

Three kinds of graphite products with different qualities can be obtained from the graphite concentrate by different techniques. Comparing with the advantages and disadvantages of flotation, chlorination roasting, acid-base method, hydrofluoric acid method and high temperature method, the combination of chemical method and high temperature method are considered as the development direction of graphite purification technology.

 

After analysis of the technology and economic of these three techniques, we fond that the purification technology of acid-base method is relatively the most profitable technology. The product obtained by flotation method has low grade and is only suitable for preliminary purification. Further purification of graphite can be obtained by alkali acid method, hydrofluoric acid method and chlorination roasting method on the basis of flotation by chemical method. And according to that, the grade of graphite ore can reach more than 90%. Even the purification effect of high temperature baking method is the best, the cost is the highest. And the requirements of raw materials are also restricted.
