Shape and Capacity of Graphite Crucible

Release time: 2019-11-29

In Japan, the shape and capacity of crucibles are defined in the Japanese Industrial Specification (JIS) published in 1950. This is the JIS regulation for clay-graphite crucible. For graphite crucible, it is also manufactured according to this regulation.

The capacity is expressed as 『番』(#) specified in JIS. 1 (1 #) is equivalent to the capacity of a graphite crucible to fuse 1 KG brass. From this, it is estimated that the graphite crucible of #300 can melt about 300KG copper. According to the specific gravity difference between aluminum alloy and brass, the graphite crucible of the same capacity can melt about 100KG aluminum.

According to the application, the graphite crucible can be divided into the following three shapes:

1, Standard type: the ratio of outer diameter to height is about 0.7~0.8:1. The capacity is #8~#4500.

2, Long type: It is more slender than the standard one. The ratio of outer diameter to height is about 0.6~0.7:1. The capacity is #15~#620.

3, Bowl type: The outer diameter is relatively large. The ratio of outer diameter to height is about 1:1. The capacity is #250~#5200. The larger graphite crucible can melt about 1.5 tons of aluminum alloy at one time.
