Thermal Conductivity of Graphite Products

The thermal conductivity of graphite products is a very important physical parameter.

 

Among various non-metallic materials, graphite products have anisotropy. But the thermal conductivity of graphite products has a unique characteristic, that is, the thermal conductivity of graphite products can reach the maximum value at a certain temperature. The thermal conductivity decreases if it is below or above this temperature. Carbon raw material or poorly graphitized carbon that has not been converted into a graphite lattice has much less thermal conductivity. Although the specific heat capacity of carbon and graphite is not much different, the thermal conductivity can be several or even dozens of times different.    

 

Many carbon and graphite products are good conductors of heat. Another type of carbon material with very small thermal conductivity can be used as a high-temperature heat insulation. This feature is now widely used in many fields.
