Purpose and Principle of Detection of Graphite Ash

Release time: 2020-02-26

The so-called ash refers to the residue when the carbon material burns to constant weight at 850°C±20°C. The ash content is the percentage of the mass of this residue to the total mass of the specimen.

The ash content of graphite raw materials directly affects the quality of graphite products. The content of ash in graphite products has a great influence on the conductivity and other properties of the products. In particular, pure graphite for spectroscopy, graphite for electronic components, and graphite for nuclear graphite have very strict requirements for ash content. Sometimes graphite ash is even required to be in the range of (5-10)*10^-6.

In the design and development of new products, the appropriate raw materials should be selected according to the ash content of various graphite raw materials.
