Although C/C composites have various good mechanical properties, their absolute strength is usually low. Comparing with metal materials, C/C composites are more likely to cause brittle damage.

According to different matrix, the manufacturing methods of C/C composites are also different.

Usually the matrix carbon of C/C composite is obtained by carbonization of organic matter (resin, asphalt) or by thermal decomposition of hydrocarbon gas by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). There are other methods, but the above two methods are currently the main methods.
