Reaction of Graphite with Gas

Release time: 2020-08-28

Graphite began to have obvious oxidation reaction at about 450℃.

1、Graphite reacts with water vapor at about 700℃.

2Graphite reacts with CO2 at about 900℃.

3 Graphite and hydrogen react chemically only when the temperature is greater than 1000℃.  Even up to 1100~1500℃, the reaction of graphite with hydrogen produces only a small amount of CH4.

Among the above reactions, the reaction between C and 02 is the easiest. The reaction between C and H2 is the most difficult.

4、Even at room temperature, fluorine and graphite can combine and produce a lot of heat at the same time. Graphite spontaneous combustion in fluorine.

5Chlorine reacts with graphite only when the arc is introduced.

6Graphite reacts with sulfur when the temperatures is higher than 700℃.

Besides the above, graphite can react with N2.
