Comparing with Rayon graphite felts, the PAN graphite felts have large strength, strong oxidation resistance, good thermal insulation, but poor flexibility and large bulk density.

PAN graphite felt not only has the properties of high purity, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and non-melting of block graphite, but also has the advantages of elasticity, arbitrary folding, tailoring and suture of graphite yarn.

Graphite felt is mainly used as insulation material for monocrystalline silicon smelting furnace. In chemical industry, graphite felt can be used as filter material for high purity corrosive chemical reagent.
