High purity graphite has excellent neutron retarder and can be used in atomic reactors. The uranium-graphite reactor is a kind of atomic reactor which is widely used at present.

Ash content of high purity graphite used as an atomic reactor can not exceed dozens of ppm. Boron should be less than 0.5 ppm.
