The CLVI Process of the CFC - 2

Release time: 2022-03-01

The CLVI(Chemical Liquid-Vapor Infiltration) process used for the CFC was a rapid densification process invented in 1984. In terms of densification efficiency, the CLVI process is more than 100 times that of the conventional ICVI(Isothermal Chemical Vapor Infiltration) process.

The basic preparation process of the CLVI process used for CFC is relatively complex. According to the CLVI process, the key to this densification process lies in the formation of a large temperature gradient inside the CFC prefabricated body to ensure that the pyrolytic carbon deposition is conducted layer by layer.

However, one of the reasons why the CLVI process cannot make large-size CFC is the need for large heating power. The second reason is that the liquid carbon source is easy to gasification, and it must have enough cooling capacity and large-size reactor to ensure that the CFC material is always immersed in the liquid precursor.
