The main process of LIC process of CFC can be divided into two steps: infiltration and carbonization.

The infiltration process of the CFC has been described before and will not be repeated here. After carbonization, a pyrolysis process (graphitization) is usually required to convert isotropic asphalt carbon (carbon matrix obtained from the asphalt used as an impregnated agent) or resin carbon (carbon matrix obtained from the resin used as an impregnated agent) into an anisotropic carbon matrix.

The infiltration process of the LIC process directly affects the densification efficiency of the CFC.
