The resin of the CFC polymerizes to form highly cross-links during solidification. The subsequent carbonization process takes place in the solid state.
The breaking of the C-C bonds of the CFC and recombination into continuous aromatic carbon planes is difficult to proceed. Therefore, the infiltration-carbonization process of the resin usually forms an isotropic carbon.
The resin of CFC will release water vapor, CH₄, CO and other gases in the process of carbonization, and produce large volume shrinkage, cracks and pores. And compression does not increase the carbon production of the process.
