The process of pyrolysis and carbonization of asphalt used in CFC is different from that of resin.
It was found that the required temperature to complete the pyrolysis process of coal tar asphalt and petroleum asphalt for CFC in the environment of 300~600℃ and nitrogen pressure of 0.2Mpa can be reduced by increasing the pressure during carbonization.
Regarding the carbonization of asphalt, we found that the pore size and porosity of the carbon matrix can be reduced by increasing the pressure, thus increasing the density and strength of the CFC.
