Deposition of Pyrolytic Carbon in the Pores of the CFC

Release time: 2022-04-01

We will briefly introduce the deposition of pyrolytic carbon in the pores of the CFC.

During the production of CFC, the deposition of a pyrolytic carbon matrix in a porous CFC preform is different from its deposition on the suface of planar substrate. The hydrocarbon precursor needs to diffuse into CFC preform for the deposition of pyrolytic carbon. The process is somewhat similar to the oxidation process of block graphite.

During the densification of CFC, the precursor gas is deposited on the fiber surface inside the porous preform, and the ratio of transmission rate and deposition rate determines the uniformity of the density of the CFC.
