The oxidation reaction occurs when the carbon material including the CFC is in the following temperature environment:
About 370℃ in the air
At 650℃ in water steam
About 750℃ in the CO2
The oxidation rate will increase rapidly with increasing temperature after exceeding 500℃.
Oxidation can lead to a substantial decrease in the mechanical properties of the CFC.
In general, 1% of oxidized weight will reduce the strength of CFC by about 10%.
Oxidation loss of 10% would result in a nearly 50% decrease in the strength of the CFC.
Therefore, the application of CFC as high-temperature materials in the aerobic environment will be greatly limited.
