A brief description of the effect of texture type of pyrolytic carbon on mechanical properties of CFC is presented.

Density is an important indicator of CFC. Only a CFC that reaches a certain density can be characterized by good mechanical properties.

The density of the CFC is mainly contributed by the carbon fiber and the matrix carbon. Therefore, the mechanical properties of CFC are influenced by the type and volume fraction of carbon fiber, structure of the preform, structure of the matrix carbon, interface of carbon fiber and matrix carbon, subsequent heat treatment and other factors.
