Mechanical Properties of CFC by Different Needle-Punched Fabrics

We investigated the mechanical properties of CFC with different needle-punched fabrics.

 

After study, we found that both the category of fiber and the mode of overlay will greatly affect the mechanical properties of the CFC.

 

When the mass ratio of unidirectional fabric and carbon fiber net is reduced from 7:3 to 6:4, the bending strength and modulus of CFC increase significantly. We believe that the increased amount of short carbon fiber in the carbon fiber net can hinder the production and expansion of microcracks, and the short carbon fiber contributes more to the mechanical properties.
