The 3D braid is relatively easy to form closed holes, which will cause a slightly less isotropic CFC, a higher ablation rate, and uneven ablation. The 4D braid does not produce closed holes, so the ablation of the 4D CFC is uniform and the isotropic structure is roughly identical.
