CFC can be oxidized at 370℃ in air, 650℃ in water vapor and 750℃ in CO₂, and the oxidation rate will increase rapidly with the increase of temperature when the temperature exceeds 500℃.

Oxidation will greatly reduce the mechanical properties of CFC.

In general, 1% weight loss in oxidation of CFC decreases its strength by about 10%, and 10% weight loss in oxidation of CFC decreases its strength by about 50%.
