Ablation of CFC

The oxidation failure of CFC is due to the destruction of the fiber/matrix interface and the reduction of fiber strength by oxidation. A large number of thermal damage cracks are formed and spread continuously, which will eventually cause the destruction of the material structure.

 

Ablation refers to the material consumption phenomenon caused by CFC in high temperature, high enthalpy, high pressure and other environments. It is a complex physical and chemical process including heat transfer, mass transfer and chemical reactions.

 

CFC is a heterogeneous material with complex microstructure. The properties of the fiber, the structure of the preform, the properties of the precursor and the composite process have different effects on the ablative properties of the materials.
