ZrC has good chemical stability and excellent ablative resistance, so it has the potential to be used as a CFC coating.

In theory, when ZrC ceramics are under ultra-high temperature conditions, especially when the temperature is close to the melting point of oxide (ZrO₂), ZrC ceramics will form a dense oxide layer on the CFC surface due to oxidation.
