ZrC coatings were prepared on the surface of CFC using the ZrCl₄-C₃H₆-H₂-Ar system with atmospheric pressure CVD technology.

After ablation in an oxy-acetylene flame for 240 seconds, the mass ablation rate and linear ablation rate of CFC were only 1.1x10^-4 g/(cm²·s) and 3x10^-4 mm/s, respectively.

The liquid film of ZrO₂ formed by the oxidation of ZrC can prevent oxygen from further diffusing into the interior of CFC, thereby enhancing the ablation resistance of CFC.
